Doe & Ingalls of North Carolina, a leading chemical services provider, announces the retirement of co-founder and CEO, Tom Merrick and the appointment of new executive leadership. John Elmo, co-founder and Executive Vice President, will immediately assume the role of CEO. John Hollenbach has been named vice president and general manager.
Merrick, along with Elmo, founded the company in 1986. Since its inception, Doe & Ingalls of North Carolina has demonstrated consistent double-digit growth year after year and has expanded from 2 employees to 59. Under Merrick's leadership, the company has also extended its footprint across the United States to include NC, VA, MD, FL and CA. Merrick has successfully led Doe & Ingalls of North Carolina from the single location start-up phase to the multi-state industry leader that it is today.
Merrick will remain a member of the board of managers and continue to serve the company in an advisory role.
"Tom has served as a visionary within the industry. He has excelled at understanding the big picture and small picture in a way that is hard for many CEOs to balance. His ability to recognize market trends and create a responsive, flexible organization has readied us for further growth and expansion, both at the strategic and operational level," commented John Pouschine, chairman of the board. "We are pleased that John Elmo will be taking the reins and have complete confidence that he will lead Doe & Ingalls of North Carolina through the next phases of prosperity and success."
As the new CEO, John Elmo will provide strategic direction to the company. He will ensure long-range business plans are aligned with market trends and needs while continuing to position the company as an industry resource. Elmo co-founded Doe & Ingalls of North Carolina with Merrick in 1986 and has worked in the fine chemical industry for more than 30 years. He most recently served as executive vice president and sits on the board of managers.
John Hollenbach will assume the role of vice president and general manager. Hollenbach will work in tandem with Elmo to implement strategic initiatives and oversee departmental objectives including those within operations, finance and sales and marketing. Above all, he will ensure that the customer-driven direction of the company remains unparalleled. Hollenbach most recently served as director of sales and marketing and has more than 15 years experience with the company.
Doe & Ingalls of North Carolina continues to increase its geographical footprint to service clients throughout the country. Focused on the biotechnology and microelectronics industries, it specializes in helping companies build robust supply chains. Expansion into the California market is slated for Q1 2009.
