North Carolina child sex fugitive arrested in Mobile

MOBILE, Alabama -- An 84-year-old man wanted for kid sex abuse charges in North Carolina was arrested Monday in Mobile, authorities said. Edward Farill McKee is charged with indecent liberties with a kid and disseminating obscene material to a child, which have been state charges in North Carolina, said Ross Hebert with the United States Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force in Mobile. Hebert said that authorities learned a week ago that McKee was living in the Mobile area. McKee was arrested about 8:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Conti Street, Hebert said. McKee remains in the Mobile County Metro Jail charged awaiting extradition to North Carolina, officials said and prison records show. Lt. Ed Reese with the Winston-Salem (N.C.) Police Department said that McKee was charged in May with improper touching and showing pornographic materials to more than one kid under age 16. The victims have been not related to McKee, he said. Reese said that McKee left the Winston-Salem area shortly after learning he was wanted by police.
