RALEIGH Across a state, agencies are gripping a close eye on a path of Hurricane Irene. Some forecast models show is could have an impact on a Tar Heel State.FEMA already has crews positioned in a state to work with Emergency Management Director Doug Hoell. "A lot of it for us is just to be aware of what's going on, looking at what resources that Doug and his team may need and what support he needs for evacuations," FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate said. "So partial of this is to get our folks in early."Meanwhile a Red Cross is readying volunteers. "We're calling up our volunteers and saying hey there may be a possibility that you'll come in for working with a shelter of if we need to send people out to an area, said Spokesman Timm Heisey.The national Red Cross is sending a team to Wilmington for a storm! . Meanwh ile across a state, other chapters will be deciding in a next few days where to send their resources.The N.C. Highway Patrol is also gripping a close eye on a storm. They'll send troopers to affected areas to help with evacuations and security. "It's a wait and see type of situation; however we are prepared," said Sgt. Jeff Gordon. "Our troopers are well-versed as far as dealing with hurricanes. So this is not a first time we've finished this."The N.C. National Guard says while its always prepared, it has not yet received ay orders to mobilize for a storm. A Guard spokesperson says for storms, mobilization orders usually come about 48 to 72 hours in advance.
