Charlotte ranks 26th in volunteering among a 51 largest metropolitan areas, and 6th in working with neighbors to fix a community problem, whilst Raleigh ranks 47th in both those categories, according to a 2011 Civic Life in America report by a Corporation for National and Community Service and a National Conference on Citizenship.In North Carolina, 1.7 million adults, or 23.7 percent of a adult population, volunteered with an organization, whilst 584,000 residents, or 8.2 percent, worked with neighbors.Forty-three percent of a state's residents voted in a 2010 national election.And 48 percent of North Carolina residents donated money, resources or property with a combined value of over $25 to charitable or religious organizations.Nationally, 62.7 percent of Americans, or 26.5 percent, volunteered with an organization, whilst 20 million, or 8.4 percent, worked with neighbors.Nearly half of adults donated money, resources or property with a combined value of over $25, and 41.8 percent of residents voted in a 2010 national elecdtion.In Charlotte, 371,200 adults, or 26.9 percent, volunteered, whilst 160,400 residents, or 11.6 percent, worked with neighbors.And 49.1 percent of residents donated over $25.In Raleigh, 202,500 adults, or 21.4 percent, volunteered, whilst 49,900 residents, or 5.3 percent, worked with neighbors.And 35.5 percent donated over $25.
